Since 2009, MEDEORA has been supporting the Clinical Virology Network (CVN) \u2013 not merely as a technical partner, but as an active contributor to data-driven, collaborative infectious disease research. Our contribution ranges from the development of high-performance data infrastructures to the ongoing refinement of organisational processes that facilitate the seamless exchange of information between laboratories, the scientific community and public health authorities. <\/p>\n
The Clinical Virology Network connects doctors, laboratories and research institutions across institutional and geographical boundaries. Its aim is to identify emerging trends in the spread of infectious agents at an early stage and to provide reliable data to support informed decision-making. <\/p>\n
What began as a network for monitoring respiratory infections has been steadily expanded:
Since 2014, the CVN has also covered bacterial pathogens, and since 2016 it has included a specialised gastroenteritis network. Today, the CVN is an established tool supporting national surveillance systems in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and contributes significantly to transparency and scientific exchange through freely accessible, up-to-date data. <\/p>\n
Around 50 laboratories have contributed data so far, with around 25 currently submitting their results digitally on a regular basis within a few days. Around 300,000 additional test results are fed into the system every month \u2013 bringing the total to over a million records, including both positive and negative results, which enable reliable calculation of positivity rates. There is close cooperation with the Robert Koch Institute. <\/p>\n

The dashboards supported by MEDEORA provide transparency and enable both experts and the general public to track epidemiological trends in near real time. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n The dashboard for respiratory viruses and bacteria provides continuously updated insights into infection rates, seasonal patterns and regional distributions. It helps healthcare professionals and public health authorities to identify trends at an early stage and respond effectively.
