The standard specifies the general requirements for the validation and verification of processing methods for biological materials in biobanks. It supplements the biobank standard ISO 20387 (&#8220;Biotechnology &#8211; Biobanking &#8211; General requirements for biobanking&#8221;) published in 2018.<\/p>\n\n<p>Processing methods performed in biobanks include, for example, the extraction of DNA, RNA and proteins from various types of samples. ISO 21899 was developed by Working Group 2 of ISO Technical Committee 276 &#8220;Biotechnology&#8221; to define the specific requirements for the validation of processing methods.
