CKEditor – Overview of all symbols and functions

CKEditor is a WYSIWYG text editor that is used to create and edit entries in the lab notebook. It can be used to format texts, insert tables, images and documents and use various functions.

Functions and symbols at a glance:

  • Tasks: Internal communication – allows you to add messages to specific parts of the page.

  • Paste: Inserts copied content (text/images).

  • Paste from Word: Paste content from MS Word while retaining structure and formatting. Automatic conversion to clean HTML.

  • Image options: Settings for the width and height of images.

  • Ω Special characters: Inserts special characters.

  • Maximize: Enlarge the editor view. Click “Minimize” to return.

  • Edit mode: Activates the text editing mode.

  • Overview button: Read only mode – displays all text without editing.

  • Generate Link: Generates a source code link to a specific object (e.g. box, sample or aliquot). The area and name must be selected.

  • Search term field: Helps to find the objects for link generation.

  • Update: Saves changes to the entry.

  • New: Creates a new entry (notebook page or entry).

  • Copy: Copies an existing entry.

  • Delete: Deletes an entry.

  • Cancel: Cancels the current action.

  • Print: Prints the entry with preview.
