Laboratory Journal – Functions and use
An electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) replaces the classic handwritten or printed laboratory notebook. Within the “eLabJournal” tab, lab notebooks can be digitally documented, saved and accessed at any time.
It is used for the structured recording and dissemination of clinical examination or test results. It helps to make knowledge digitally available, searchable and reproducible.

Lab books at a glance

On the left side you can see all available lab books.

Each lab notebook can contain several entries.

By selecting a lab notebook, all associated entries are displayed on the right-hand side.

After selecting an entry, the editor opens for editing.
Find lab journal
To find a specific lab notebook, enter its name or number in the search field.
Tags

Lab books can be tagged and sorted or filtered.

Tags can be added or removed via the drop-down list (delete via the symbol).
Create a new lab journal

Click on “Create Lab Journal”.

Enter a unique title in the first field.

Optional: Assign the journal to an existing project.
Authorizations

Administrators: Full access to all lab notebooks including creating, editing and deleting

Normal users: Restricted access – no visibility or editing rights, unless approved accordingly
