Storage and retrieval at a glance: How to find the right process
In daily laboratory work, there are various ways to store and retrieve samples (aliquots) – depending on the working method and requirements.
Whether manually, visually via the freezer or with the express mode: each method has its advantages.
This overview will help you to find the right process for your laboratory – efficient, transparent and flexible.
Check-In: Store samples
Standard
- Manual process: Aliquots are recorded individually and manually – ideal for precise and individual entries.
Express (fast check-in & re-check-in)
- Fast manual process:
Allows multiple aliquots to be entered manually and quickly. - Re-check-in:
Previously checked-out aliquots are stored again. The procedure is the same as for express check-in, but the remaining amount of liquid must also be specified.
- Visual capture via the repository: aliquots can be added or edited directly in the graphical freezer view – individually or in groups.
Rack scanner:
Capture and check in multiple samples at once across entire racks.
-
LVL scanner:
Automated check-in with a compatible LVL rack scanner. -
Ziath scanner:
Use of a Ziath scanner for quick identification and storage of aliquots.
Check-Out: Removing samples
Standard
-
Manual process:
Aliquots are specifically checked out manually
Express
-
Visually via the repository:
Swap multiple aliquots directly via the freezer view – ideal for quick access.
Rack scanner:
Quick check-out of entire racks using a scanner.
-
LVL scanner:
Automated recording of samples with an LVL-compatible rack scanner. -
Ziath scanner:
Efficient identification and retrieval of samples using a Ziath scanner.
