Check-In – Manual

In this mode, the aliquots are entered manually and individually into the system.

First select the desired employee and the storage bin and click on “Next”.
The corresponding box then opens in an overview.

Occupied positions within the box are marked with a tick.
To assign a new position, simply click once on the desired vacancy – a “+” will then appear to confirm your selection.

As soon as you have selected an item in the box, a new input field opens on the right-hand side. Enter the information on the aliquot here:

Check in aliquots
  1. Position in the box:
Is automatically adopted as soon as you have selected a place.
  2. Select aliquot type:
Select the appropriate type from the list.
  3. Select sample:
Use the search function to find the sample to which the aliquot belongs.
  4. Assign aliquot number:
    Name the aliquot.
  5. Reference to other sample/aliquot (optional):
If the aliquot does not come directly from the selected sample (e.g. for tissue microarrays), you can select another sample as a reference here.
You can then select an associated aliquot in the next field.
  6. Link (e.g. for derivatives):
This field becomes active if you want to link the aliquot to an existing aliquot.

Please note: The following characters are permitted for naming samples: a-z A-Z 0-9 _ – (numbers, letters, hyphens, underscores). A background check ensures compliance with this convention.

Save:
Once all fields have been filled in, click on “Save box” – your aliquot will now be displayed correctly in the overview (incl. pre-probe & pre-aliquot, if referenced).

Check in derivatives

The procedure is similar for derivatives (derived samples), with a few special features:

  1. Position in the box:
    Is automatically adopted as usual.

  2. Select aliquot type:
Select the appropriate type (e.g. derivative type).

  3. Select sample:
Find the original sample using the search function.

  4. Enter derivative number:
Assign a unique number for the new derivative.

  5. (field is not used)

  6. Select ancestor aliquot:
Search for the aliquot from which the derivative was created.

Relationship:
Sample → Aliquot → Derivative

Finally:
Click on “Save box” – the derivative has now been entered correctly.
