Project fields – data types
When defining your project fields, the MEDEORA software provides you with a large number of database-specific field types. These allow you to customize your input mask to your individual requirements and to enter a wide variety of data types in a structured manner.
- Single-line text:
For short text entries (max. 120 characters). Ideal for names, designations etc. - Multiline text:
For longer texts such as descriptions, comments or anamneses. - Whole number:
For numerical values without decimal places. - Decimal number (2 decimal places):
For e.g. dimensions, measured values with limited precision. - Decimal number (8 decimal places):
For very precise measured values or calculations. - Date:
For entering date values. - Monovalent list:
Single selection from a predefined list. - Multi-value list:
Multiple selection from a list. Ideal for symptoms, diagnoses etc. - E-mail address:
Validated field for entering e-mail addresses. - User:
Selection of a user from the system. - Tags:
Any, freely selectable keywords for flexible categorization. - Documents:
Allows you to upload and link files (PDFs, images, etc.). - Increment field:
Automatically incrementing value for clear identification. - Label:
For display only – no input by the user. Suitable for notes. - Picker:
The following field types are available as a reference to the catalog area in the administration area:
- Country
- Diagnostic picker
- Laboratory picker
- Medication picker
The following field types are available as a reference to the documented cases and samples within the software:
- Case picker
- Picker
- Symptom picker
- Examination picker
- Aliquot picker
Information on the increment field:
The increment field is a useful tool that automatically generates and adds a sequential value to a specific field in a record. This is done every time a user creates a new record for an object. Here are the key points for using the increment field:
- Automatic incrementation:
- The increment field automatically calculates a consecutive valuewhich is added when a new data record is created. This value increases by a fixed amount (usually 1) each time a new data record is created.
- Dependence on other fields:
- You can set the incrementation in depending on other fields control. This means that the increment field is only increased if certain other fields (e.g. field_1 and field_2) can be used in a data set.
- To configure this, enter the names of the relevant fields for which the incrementation should take place.
- Example of use:
- Fields: field_1, field_2
- Each time you create a new data record for an object and enter the fields field_1 and field_2 fields for an object, the increment field increases by 1.
- This is particularly useful for creating unique numbering or IDs for data records based on specific criteria.
- Use of the increment field:
- The increment field is ideal for automatic generation of serial numbers, sequential IDs or other numerical values that should be unique and increase with each new entry.
- It facilitates the management of data records that require sequential or conditional numbering.
By using the increment field in combination with other fields, you can ensure that your records are numbered consistently and systematically, which significantly improves organization and traceability.
The increment field always increases by one value if the fields “field_1” and “field_2” have the same content.

Please note that this only applies to one transaction and no further changes are possible. Please do not make any more changes after saving, otherwise incorrect values will be created in the auto value field, which cannot be undone. If you still want to make changes, you can delete the data records and create new ones or you can contact the support support.
