Essentim Temperature Monitoring

Purpose

The Essentim integration expands BioARCHIVE to include the ability to centrally provide temperature data from the Essentim monitoring system within the sample and study management system. Users can view and document temperature information directly in the context of samples, studies, and storage locations.

Prerequisites

The following components are required to use the integration:

  • BioARCHIVE with the Essentim interface enabled
  • Essentim Sensors for Temperature Measurement
  • Essentim Gateways for Data Transmission
  • An active Essentim Cloud account
  • Network connection between BioARCHIVE and the Essentim Cloud

How It Works

The Essentim sensors continuously monitor the temperature at designated storage locations. The measurement data is transmitted to the Essentim Cloud via the Essentim gateways.

BioARCHIVE retrieves the relevant temperature data from the Essentim Cloud and makes it available within the application. The data is assigned to the corresponding storage locations and the samples stored there.

This allows users to view temperature data directly alongside the corresponding sample and study information without having to switch between different systems.

Available Features

The integration includes the following features:

  • Connection between BioARCHIVE and the Essentim Cloud
  • Retrieving Current Temperature Readings
  • Display of Historical Temperature Trends
  • Assigning Temperature Data to Storage Locations
  • Joint Presentation of Sample, Study, and Monitoring Data
  • Centralized Documentation of Storage Conditions

Configuration

Integration is set up by configuring the connection between BioARCHIVE and the Essentim Cloud.

In particular, the following settings are configured:

  • Connection Parameters for the Essentim Cloud
  • Authentication for Data Exchange
  • Mapping of Essentim storage locations to the corresponding storage locations in BioARCHIVE
  • Setting the Synchronization Parameters

Once configuration is complete, the temperature data is automatically made available in BioARCHIVE.

Benefits

This integration helps laboratories, biobanks, and research institutions centrally manage temperature-sensitive samples.

The key benefits include:

  • Centralized access to all relevant sample and temperature data
  • Transparent documentation of storage conditions
  • Support for Quality and Compliance Requirements
  • Faster identification of critical temperature deviations
  • Reducing media breaks through the integration of both systems

Target Audience

This feature is designed for organizations that manage temperature-sensitive samples and need to ensure continuous monitoring of their storage conditions, in particular:

  • Biobanks
  • Diagnostic Laboratories
  • Research Institutions
  • Clinical Trial Sites
